Learning Outcome

Throughout the course, students will develop a comprehensive foundation in fashion design, from technical skills to creative expression and professional presentation. Key learning outcomes include:

  • Technical Proficiency: Students will acquire skills in technical drawing, sewing, flat pattern making, draping, and garment construction for both womenswear and menswear.
  • Creative Development: Emphasis is placed on freehand sketching, fashion illustration, fabric manipulation, and original concept creation to express unique design ideas.
  • Historical and Cultural Context: Learners will explore fashion and art history, textile behavior, and cultural narratives to inform their designs and storytelling.
  • Digital and Presentation Skills: Students will utilize digital tools for design and communication, creating style boards, spec drawings, and digital portfolios for professional use.
  • Sustainability and Branding: By the final semester, students will examine ethical practices in fashion and develop branding systems and a capstone fashion thesis or brand project that integrates design, strategy, and identity.
